Today happens to be National Typewriter Day. I love anything vintage but don’t do much collecting. However, I do have a vintage Royal typewriter from the 1940s. Situating myself with a lovely view outside my kitchen patio doors, I decided to do a bit of typing, though I wasn’t sure what to write. Then I noticed my evening journal (yes, I have day journals and evening journals!) and last night I filled in the final page. My evening journal has the title: “i choose You” because I write my entries to Jesus and sign off every night with these words.
The great thing about writing and knowing the Holy Spirit is that so often when I put pen to paper or finger to key, the Holy Spirit talks to me – through my fingers. Today was no different. Not knowing what to write about, I decided to start with “i choose You”. To talk about why I started signing off on each and every journal entry with these words. As it would happen, God wanted to talk to me today, to address some hurts and insecurities I was dealing with. Who knew that He would use an old typewriter that skips to tell me more about His love and delight in and for me!
The words that came out today make much more sense when you see them typed with an imperfect typewriter, so here is an image of what Holy Spirit and I were talking about today while typing on my 1940s Royal Quiet vintage typewriter…that skips.
